Youth Counselling Service
What is Youth Counselling?
Youth
Counselling is talking to someone who can help you become clearer about
your thoughts and feelings and help you find your own solutions. You
might want to make changes to your life and you could use your
counselling sessions to help you.
The counsellor is there to help
YOU.
| "Time to explore my feelings, time to be myself and know I would be accepted." |
Confidentiality
What
is shared between you and your counsellor is confidential. Nothing
about you is told to anyone outside Wellspring Counselling without
discussion with you first. We would only break confidentiality if
your or someone else connected with you may be at risk of harm from
themselves or other people. Your privacy will be respected as fully
as possible.
The Counselling Agreement
During
the first session you will decide with your counsellor whether you want
to arrange more counselling sessions. You will make a counselling
agreement with your counsellor.
What do People Talk About?
You can use your counselling sessions for concerns you have, but some issues you people talk to us about are:
- Feeling shy or lonely
·
- Self-confidence
- How to overcome dear and worries
- Making decisions about school or relationships
- Wanting to improve relationships with family or friends
- Parents
- Making Changes
- Things that feel private and concern you
- Sexual matters
- Eating problems
- Childhood
- How the past has affected you
You can talk about anything you wish, it's up to you
Appointments
To
make an appointment speak with your youth counsellor or teacher who
will give you more details. Each session lasts for 50 minutes. If you
are late you may not be able to have a whole session. You will be
offered regular sessions at the same time/day with the same
counsellor. It is up to you if you wish to contact us if you want to
change an appointment. If you miss your first appointment we will
assume you do not want counselling as this time. We won't chase you up
- but you are welcome to return or phone at any time to make another
appointment.
In September 2005 Wellspring launched its free counselling service to young people aged 11-16.
Our experienced youth worker offers four sessions per week on Wednesday
afternoons from 3:00pm upstairs at Tower House Medical Centre, Nailsea.
Behaviour
We
ask you to come to counselling free of mind-changing drugs or alcohol.
We ask you respect anyone who you meet a Wellspring Counselling and we
do not condone sexism or racism. Violent or sexual behaviour is not
acceptable in a counselling relationship.
